Yes, I know January is over. And yes, I know that it’s almost March. But I like the Bloguarany prompts, so I’m going to sneak them in here and there.
Bloguarany 11 What does it mean to live boldly?
From the Star Trek franchise: “To boldly go where no one has gone before!” and to borrow another Star Trek catchphrase from Jean-Luc: “Make it so.”
To me, all of these means to live your life to the fullest. To explore new ideas. To learn new things that may be foreign to you.
I try to learn something new every day. Right now, I’m learning and re-learning and exploring the details of ancient Greek, Roman, and Germanic history and legends.
I’m getting back into the hobbies that I essentially abandoned for various reasons.
My disability keeps me fairly isolated, but I can explore my environment more once I get my electric wheelchair. The residence here is a large campus, and I’m anxious to see what all it has to offer.
To go boldly doesn’t mean you have to go into space. It doesn’t mean you have to be the company’s CEO or win a political office. But if those things are a desire for you, then go for it. The only failure is not trying.
But I do think with anything you do, you need to be prepared for it:
- Doing research
- Getting an education if needed
- Mentally preparing yourself for all outcomes
To go boldly could also mean doing something simple and easy, especially if it’s new to you. Going back to college, learning to crochet, or doing an adult coloring book.
It’s the process of trying something new and seeing where it leads.
So…. go boldly and make it so.
