The uncertainty. Unsure if you should, unsure if you could, unsure if you would. Unsure if it’s still happening. When I was a kid, people dated to try others on for size. They didn’t go steady until it was mutually decided. When I was old enough to date, it seemed like the first date implied you wouldn’t go out with anyone else. When my kids were teens, they didn’t date, they hooked up. Now dating happens online.
