“On this day in 1999, the Columbine High School shooting took place in Littleton, Colorado, killing 13 victims. At the time, it was the fifth most deadly mass shooting in recent American history, but due to other massacres in the past two decades, it’s now tied for twelfth. The tragedy sparked a national debate about gun violence within schools.”

I was working at a middle school that day. My office was next to the vice principal’s and he had his TV on, watching the news. Suddenly I heard him say ‘oh my god’ and several of us headed in to see what was happing. We were shocked by what we heard and saw. We never dreamed we would see something like this… students shooting and killing other students. It should have stopped with this one. Banning sales of assault rifles and registration of gun sales, and licenses for gun owners. We have more regulation of cars, which can be dangerous on it’s own, but they aren’t designed and made specially for killing like guns are.
